First post! And first batch of beer, but long time beer drinker.

Anyway, I did my primary fermentation in my brew bucket for one week and then I transferred it to my secondary fermenter (plastic carboy). I had a good fermentation with lots of bubbles in head while in the primary. Once I transferred it to my secondary...nothing. No head on the beer, no gas coming through the airlock, etc. It doesn't seem to be "active" Is it ok? Is this normal? Did I do something to kill it?

Man I'm thirsty.

Thanks!

The term "secondary fermentation" can be a little confusing. There's really not much going on in the secondary in the way of fermentation. The yeast are mostly dormant at this point, and the primary reasons for using a secondary are to help the beer clear and allow the few remaining yeast cells to continue allowing the beer to condition. I tend not to use a secondary except for a few exceptions (barleywine, lagers, imperial anything).
