Well, I didn't actually GO to Scotland to drink this beer, but it's native Scottish through and through. It's "technically" of viking origins, but its brewed in a small group of islands off the northern tip of Scotland. Its called Skullsplitter, a brewery called Orkney Brewery. Named after a Viking named Thorfinn Hausakluif, which means, obviously, the Skullsplitter. The color is either a dark red, or a light brown (I'm not the best judge of color). Not quite sure whats used it brewing it, but it has a strong green tree scent. The taste is very unique. Very malty, very sweet, but quite refreshing all the same. There's almost no hint of hops in it at all, except for the smell. I found it in a specialty beer store in my hometown. There's a bunch more unique Scottish ales in a special 4 pack historic Scottish ale package that I found, with a Gooseberry Wheat ale (called Alba), a Scots Pine ale (called Grozet), a Elderberry Black Ale (called Ebulum) and my personal favorite, a Heather Ale (called Fraoch, the oldest brand of ale still available in the world). If you find this pack, I HIGHLY recommend that you pick it up. You will not be disappointed.
